Brookville Tailwater Fishing Report 12.10.15
Water levels? Perfect if you are nymph fisherman. Brookville Tailwater is in great shape. Usually the Army Corp is pumping water out and sometimes it can be to high to even fish from the bank. Anglers and friends have been fishing the tailwater regularly and noting that it is clear and low, but there are plenty of trout to be caught.
Nymphing as always for the consistency is the best, but anglers are also throwing smaller woolly buggers and landing nicer fish as well. San Juan worms should absolutely be a staple in your box for this season. To really get technical and land a hell of a lot fish, start to figure out the midge patterns. This tailwater is ultra productive in its aquatic species and midges play a large roll. I would definitely have in the fly box, some Charlie Craven patterns juju and such, along with red nymph midge patterns along with some emerger patterns like a black beauty or a serendipity. This is a great time of year to perfect this knowledge and the trout will let you know if you are on your game.
In all, enjoy the holiday season and with the warmer weather, you need to get on the river before we actually get winter. Good Luck on the river
